Memorial Day 2024 events

We hope you can join us for one of our Memorial Day Weekend events.  Here is a summary of what is going on in our town to Honor Veterans.

  • Learn more about Chapel Hill and Post 6 Memorial Day event by visiting Memorial Day-2024 under Events.

On Saturday, May 25th, we will decorate veterans’ graves at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery on Legion Road.  We will then hold an 8 a.m. memorial service to honor one of the veterans.  

  • Arrive by 7:15 to place flags.    The Memorial Day Weekend Ceremony will honor Robert Patton at his gravesite (8.a.m).  Children are welcome to observe and maybe post a flag or two.
  • Join us at 9 a.m.  for a No-Host Veterans Breakfast at the nearby Bob Evan’s Restaurant.  Veterans will join together for a post-flag placement gathering. 

For Monday, May 27th – At the American Legion Post Home.  On Monday, our Post will hold an OPEN HOUSE on Monday.  

The doors open at 1 p.m.   Tour our site, museum, displays, meeting areas, and venue center.

There is with a Post memorial service at about 2 p.m. to remember the fallen, our  Missing in Action, and post members who passed away during the past year.

   Mobile Maple View Mobile Ice Cream will also be on site for the Post Memorial Day events  Hot Dogs and drinks are available.

If you are joining us at our new home for the first time, please park in the parking area to the left as you arrive.

The Orange County Veterans Memorial is hosting a Monday, May 27th, Memorial Day Service.  The memorial service is at 9 a.m. at the memorial.  Please be seated by 8:45. For details, visit
