Elmer and Elmer (Dad) Hughes with David Lucas and pet!

What are you doing on Saturday?  Many of your comrades will be getting up early, driving downtown and dressing up their cars to parade down Franklin Street to Carrboro.  It is Christmas in Chapel Hill. Post members gather on East Franklin near Boundary Street.

You need to be there by 9 a.m.  Have someone drop you off and pick up up at the end of the parade at the Carrboro Town Hall.

Park at the town parking lot, as there is no parking on Franklin St.  Just tell the uniformed guides that you are with the American Legion and VFW veterans.  They will point you in the right direction.

You can join in  and walk with the  post members.  If you are young and able, consider carrying a post flag.  We will have them with us and we will gladly assist you. The uniform of the day is your American Legion Cap.  Most of us wear a sport jacket, tie, and our Legion Blue Cap, but it is not  required.  Just dress warm and bring your Legion cap or a military veteran cap.

Can’t walk or march?  Stand along the way and wave at us.  Let us know you support us as we demonstrate that the American Legion is alive and well in Chapel Hill. We’ll also gather at Bailey’s for a post-parade lunch and brag session.
