Veterans Are Arriving at Carolina

The war is drawing down and our veterans are showing up in greater numbers at local colleges. The number of new veterans returning to Carolina and the Chapel Hill campus now numbers over 350! That is just the first wave and Carolina has a great facility and several outstanding and respected medical and dental programs.

NC Memorial Hospital Event for Veterans

The president of UNC Hospitals, Mr. Gary Park, is hosting an event to recognize our local veterans at NC Memorial Hospital the week of Veteran’s Day. The event will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 10th. Guests are asked to join with the hospital staff in the main lobby of the NC Memorial Hospital.

We get lots of email and telephone calls to visit convalescent homes, nursing homes, schools and the Charles House. We can’t honor all of the requests, especially around a military holiday, but we do try.

Hillsborough School Honors Veterans – Nov 9

October 17, 2011 ChpHillP6 Grady Brown Elementary, Veterans Day

Grady Brown Elementary School, Hillsborough, will again have a program for veterans this year. Last year’s event was put on by the students to honor the attending veterans. They also presented a show on the National Flag.

Post Receives $10,000 Grant from VFW

Our post is very pleased to announce that it has accepted a monetary grant from our local Veterans of Foreign Wars C.V. Cummings Chapel Hill Post 9100. The grant was received and accepted by the Executive Committee during their September meeting.

Seafood Fest at Post on Saturday

If you like fish, you may want to drop by the post on Saturday, October 1st, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The Grape Arbor Development group is holding a Seafood Fest. Now it is not cheap, but it is no ordinary fish fry.
