Read moreAs previously announced, the Marathon Jam is returning to American Legion Post 6. This event brings together local musicians who will play and play to raise money for Fischer House. They will join together to jam on Saturday, Feb 25th, for 12 straight hours. The jam starts at 1 p.m. and ends at 1 a.m.

Read moreBoy Scout Troop 505 is now preparing for a project to earn a new Merit Badge for preparing video interviews of veterans for the National Archives Veterans History Project. The scouts will be working with Rusty Edmister, who had compiled a large library of similar videos for the North Carolina Archive’s Veterans Historical Project.
Read moreAmerican Legion Chapel Hill Post 6 is assisting Vanessa Patchett, a local master’s degree candidate with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, produce a video documentary. The documentary will focus on experiences of soldiers and their families, during and after deployment, as told in their words and on their terms.
Read moreWe have restarted work on the post and have some new projects on tap for the winter and spring months. Our goal is to restore the appearance and function of the post. Boy Scout Troop 505 has been working on our flag plaza area, waterline, and is now working on restoring and protecting our blue bird sanctuary and tree memorials.
Read moreSome local families have donated large national flags to the post. They were found stored away and wanted to give them a new home. We will fly the flags over the post for a two or three-month period in honor of the veteran family member.
Read moreVincent T. Dodson, a 14-year member of our post, passed away on January 10, 2012. A long-time resident of Orange County, he served in the U.S. Army with the 320th Regiment, 35th Division, in Europe and received three battle stars.
