Memorial Day 2021 Information
We are open for our very first Memorial Day at our newest Post Home. We hope you can join us for our events Learn more about Chapel Hill and Post 6 Memorial Day event by visiting Memorial Day under Events.
For Chapel Hill Post No. 6, Monday, May 31st – At the American Legion Post Home. On Monday, our Post will hold an OPEN HOUSE AND FOOD DRIVE on Monday.
The doors open at 11 a.m. after the arrival of the American Legion historic motorcade from our former Legion Road home. Members and local veterans are welcome to join in the motorcade. Just decorate your vehicles and meet us at 1741 Legion Road, Chapel Hill by 10 a.m. The motorcade departs promptly at 10:30 a.m. Arrive early to ensure you can depart with the formation led by Chapel Hill Post 6 Legion Riders.
If you are joining us at our new home for Memorial day, you will want to be at the new Post Home on NC 54 West by 10:30 to park and get a good view of the motorcade as it arrives at about 10:50 a.m.
There is with a Post memorial service at about 11:30 a.m. to remember the fallen, our Missing in Action, and post members that passed away during 2020 and 2021.
We ask all attendees to take a peek in their pantry to locate non-perishable food. Then bag or box it and bring it with you. All contributed food will go to CORA, of Pittsboro. Your donation will go towards supporting local folk in need of help during these very trying times.
The there are performances by The Carolina Quarter, The Chapel Hill Village Band, and The Guiding Lights. All will perform at our concert immediately following the memorial service. The performance starts at 1:00 p.m. Mobile Maple View Mobile Ice Cream will also be on site for the Post Memorial Day events There will be kid’s games, too.
