Memorial Day Events 2023
We hope you can join us for one of our Memorial Day Weekend events. Here is a summary of what is going on in our town to Honor Veterans.

On Saturday, May 27th, we will decorate veterans’ graves at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery on Legion Road. We will then hold an 8 a.m. memorial service to honor one of the veterans.
- Arrive by 7:30 to place flags. Children are welcome to observe and maybe post a flag or two.
- Join us at 9 a.m. at nearby Bob Evan’s Restaurant for a No Host Breakfast with veterans who hosted the cemetery events.
For Monday, May 29th – At the American Legion Post Home. On Monday, our Post will hold an OPEN HOUSE AND FOOD DRIVE on Monday.
The doors open at 11 a.m. Tour our site, museum, displays, meeting areas, and venue center.
There is with a Post memorial service at about 1 p.m. to remember the fallen, our Missing in Action, and post members that passed away during 2022 and 2023.
The Chapel Hill Village Band will perform. All will performance is after the memorial service. Mobile Maple View Mobile Ice Cream will also be on site for the Post Memorial Day events Hot Dogs and drinks are available.
- Post 6 Legion Riders and other veterans will arrive at about 12:15 in a motorcade from the Orange County Veterans Memorial. The Memorial service is at 11 a.m. at the memorial. For details, visit ocveteransmemorial.com.
If you are joining us at our new home for the first time for Memorial day, you will want to park in the parking area to the left as you arrive. A motorcade will arrive at about 12:15 and will then proceed to the right and pass the front of the post home. We suggest you arrive by noon to park before the motorcade arrives.
