Veterans Service Officer Orange County Focus Group

ORANGE COUNTY, NC – The Orange County Department of Social Services will hold four focus groups to gather feedback about how the county can improve the services it provides to area veterans.

There will be two focus groups in Chapel Hill and two in Hillsborough over the next two weeks.  The focus groups will be located at Social Services buildings in each town, and there will be both afternoon and evening sessions. The times and addresses of the focus group session are:

Chapel Hill:

  • Monday, Aug. 13, from 6-7 p.m. and
  • Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 1-2 p.m.

Location:   Southern Human Services Center, 2501 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill, NC  27516

Hillsborough:

  • Friday, Aug. 17, from 1-2 p.m. and
  • Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 6-7 p.m.

The position of Veterans Service Officer at the Orange County Department of Social Services in Hillsborough was recently vacated.  The department plans to use the focus groups to get feedback about services and functions of the Veterans Service Officer that are the most important to the veteran community.

District Veteran Service Officer Terry McMillan will be available at the Orange County Social Services office in Hillsborough from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday until the position is filled.
