Boy Scout Troop 505 Joins Post 6
It is official. The Post has signed the new charter for Troop 505, including Crew 505, and they will be meeting at our post starting in September.
The American Legion’s support for Boy Scouts of America began at the Legion’s first national convention in 1919. The Chapel Hill Post 6 was also chartered in 1919. We have been serving the community for 92 years. We look forward to continuing the long tradition of a partnership of scouting and American Legionnaires. Our Executive Committee strongly supported their charter and look forward to working with the scouts in their community service program.
Tim Ross, First Vice Commander, championed this partnership and worked hard to see it through to charter. He will serve as the Charter Organization Representative and serve as the Post representative to the local scout council.
We feel that the post site offers an excellent location for the troop. Our vast wooded area, pond, and fields have been well received by visiting scouts at our recent fishing rodeo and their events, such as their Camporee. It’s a scouting paradise.
