Post Library Coming Back
Our post library collection of books found a new home in Iraq with our fighting servicemen and women. That left our shelves bare for a number of years. But, thanks to local veterans and members of our post, we are slowly rebuilding the post collection.
Don Kritsch has brought in a collection of current issues of Naval History, Sea History, and U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings. These are informative magazines and a journal on current and historic naval affairs and strategy. We will display some of them at our next regular meeting and you are welcome to look them over and maybe borrow one or two for a closer look. We thank Don Kirtsch for his generosity.
Post Commander Heavlin has shared books from his library. He has added naval history books and a number of historical reference books from World War I and II. He has been collecting them and giving some away to veterans in nursing homes. More will be added soon.
Other books are added on a regular basis courtesy of families of veterans or older veterans looking for a safe haven for their cherished tomes. Members are encouraged to consider gifting military interest or historical books to the collection. We are looking for books of interest to returning veterans.
Our post library books can be a resource for members visiting and speaking at local schools, senior centers, and groups.
Want to help? Just contact the post commander or adjutant to arrange to place your books in our growing library.
