He was on Midway Island for his 1969-70 WESTPAC cruise. (That’s Western Pacific for the landlubbers.) Here he is with the Midway Island Re-fueling Pier in the background.

Our mystery sailor was then an FTM3 in Fox Division on the USS JOSEPH STRAUSS (DDG-16). The USS JOSEPH STRAUSS was homeported in Pearl Harbor.
